Rabies Update – Cape Fur Seals

We want to keep you informed about the recent rabies cases identified in seals. Our team is actively monitoring the situation in coordination with the Department of Environmental Affairs & Tourism, as well as Cape Nature who manage Robberg Nature Reserve. While the cases have been isolated, we’ve introduced additional safety measures to protect everyone.
To help manage the risk, we’ve implemented extra precautions by working together with the other operators & have experienced marine spotters keeping an eye out for any unusual seal behaviour.
During excursions, our guides carry first aid kits specifically for bite injuries & are always close by while you’re in the water, ready to assist immediately. The boat stays close to the group to pick up swimmers swiftly, if required. We have a 30 year impeccable safety record & our crew are always ready to react in any situation.

Our local trauma doctor is fully equipped to handle seal bite incidents & we have ensured that vaccines are readily available.
If you’re feeling unsure, you’re welcome to switch to a viewing trip instead—it’s just as fun & a great way to enjoy the experience from a different perspective. Whatever you choose, we’re here to make sure your adventure is both safe, enjoyable & memorable!
